Voices soar alongside flying children, fairies and mystical ships as Orpheus provides its own live choral soundtrack to the no longer silent 1924 classic film fantasy Peter Pan. Organ improvisations heighten the swash-buckling suspense, while creating a roaring twenties movie-house atmosphere. Grab some popcorn and get set for adventure as we kick off our 55th season with faith, trust and pixie dust.

There’s A song in the Air

On Saturday, November 24th Arcady’s seasonal production There’s a Song in the Air: A Timeless Holiday Classic will be presented at St. Andrew’s United Church in Brantford. This entertaining and upbeat production will feature new and traditional holiday music written and arranged by Arcady's director Ronald Beckett. There’s a Song in the Air is designed to take the listener on a colourful winter journey and conjure up thoughts and memories of the holiday season. This heartwarming performance promises to leave everyone full of Christmas cheer. The concert will be performed by some of the finest singers Canada has to offer. The cast of performers consists of nearly 30 brilliant young professional singers, some of who will be featured soloists throughout the evening. There’s a Song in the Air is a seasonal favourite of the renowned vocal and instrumental ensemble and promises to provide entertainment for people of all ages. Beckett’s holiday music will leave an unforgettable impression on first hearing.

Rivalry, jealousy and violence take centre stage in the Biblical story of King David with choruses that equal those of the greatest oratorios for their power and beauty. Honegger composed 'Le Roi David' in 1921 and quickly earned fame throughout Europe for his unique and captivating musical style blending French Impressionism, German Baroque, Gregorian Chant, far-eastern influences and Jazz.

A ground-breaking celebration of Canadian artistry, featuring an array of choral works by female composers, and the premiere of four commissioned Canadian works by Christine Donkin, Anika-France Forget, Katerina Gimon, and Tawnie Olson. Orpheus partners with Diaspora Dialogues in a unique mentoring of acclaimed female composers and poets with emerging female artists to highlight the very best of established and undiscovered Canadian talent. This evening honours the woman’s expressive and singular perspective in song!

Chorus Niagara's silent cinema is back with the enchanting lavish film fantasy Peter Pan, accompanied by a 'live soundtrack' curated by Artistic Director Robert Cooper. This first-ever film version of J.M. Barrie's magical boy who refuses to grow up, with cinematic effects of mermaids, mystical ships, secret hideaways and the ever-popular flying sequences still delights today.
